Trouble Shooting

Below are some of the most common questions asked by our customers over the years. If your question is not answered below please email Peter or Sarah and we will be happy to assist you.

Why does pool water often go green after rain?

There is nitorgen in rain and nitrogen is a food source for algae, also rain dilutes your chlorine. The solution is to super chlorinate the pool after heavy rains.

Why do I continually get Black Spot in my pool?

There are a few basic reasons for this:

  1. Poor or insufficient filtration
  2. Incorrect circulation can create dead spots eg steps and dead ends
  3. Consistently high pH
  4. Low chlorine

Recommended treatment:

Clean filters, adjust retrun eyeballs, adjust pH, superchlorinate then include the addition of a Lochlor Black Spot Algaecide.

My automatic cleaner is not working

The majority of cleaner failures stem from insufficient suction caused by dirty or damaged filters, blocked skimmer or pump baskets, air in the system or debris jamming the cleaner.

Recommended treatment:

Clean, backwash, or replace filters, check baskets, regrease pump lid o-rings, ensure coupling and barrel unions before pump are secure, check hose for splits, check vacuum plate is seated properly.
